Novak Djokovic is considering participating in a tournament before the 2024 French Open, which could help him boost his chances of winning this important tournament.

Playing a tournament between the Italian Open and the French Open would be a significant change from Djokovic’s usual preparation for the second Grand Slam of the year.

In the match in the third round of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Rome, Djokovic lost convincingly with a score of 2-6, 3-6 to world number 32 Alejandro Tabilo in just one hour and seven minutes.

At 36 years old, Djokovic has yet to win a title this year.

Djokovic will attend the Geneva Open 2024

Andy Murray and Denis Shapovalov were awarded two of three wild-card spots into the main draw, with one spot remaining for a late entrant.

The eight players seeded in Geneva are Casper Ruud, Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, Sebastian Baez, Tallon Griekspoor, Fabian Marozsan, Jack Draper and Christopher Eubanks.

The Serbian has twice faced great rival and Swiss icon Roger Federer in the final at the ATP 500 event — winning in 2009 and losing in 2010. Djokovic last appeared in Basel in 2011.

Participating in the Geneva Open can help Djokovic have more important practice matches before entering the French Open. This is a bold but necessary step as he is looking for ways to improve his performance.
