VinFast’s recalled vehicle models need to be inspected due to problems related to bolt tightening force, risk of brake fluid leaks, and incorrect type of airbags.

Recently, electric car manufacturer VinFast just issued a recall notice of more than 2,000 electric cars of many different models for inspection and free parts replacement.
Accordingly, this recall affects car models including VF 5 Plus, VF e34, VF 6 Plus, VF 8 and VF 9, produced from August 2022 to April 2024.
For the VF e34 and VF 5 Plus models, a total of 154 vehicles produced between September 9, 2023 – April 11, 2024 need to be recalled for inspection.
The company said the cause is because the bolts securing the cover plate above the high-voltage battery may be loose, reducing the battery pack’s water resistance.
In addition, 47 VF 6 Plus units produced from March 18 to April 9 also need to be inspected because the brake fluid pipe connector component (located in the brake assembly of the four wheels) may be cracked, leading to
If the brake fluid level drops below the minimum threshold, the vehicle control will display a warning and reduce the effectiveness of the braking system.
In addition, nearly 1,900 VF 8 and VF 9 vehicles produced from August 2022 – March 2024 will need to have their airbag systems checked.
This can lead to an airbag error warning on the control screen after about 10,000 km of operation, and require a vehicle inspection.
In the event of a strong collision, airbags of the wrong type may not activate, thereby reducing the ability to protect vehicle occupants.
Specifically, VF 8 Eco and VF 8 Plus have 1,134 vehicles that need to be included in the inspection list in this recall, while VF 9 Eco and VF 9 Plus have 762 vehicles.
During this recall, VinFast said that affected VF 5 Plus and VF e34 vehicles will have the bolts securing the cover plate above the high-voltage battery tightened.
For the remaining vehicles on the recall list, VinFast will inspect and replace other suspected parts or equipment to eliminate all potential risks.
The company also announced that the time taken to carry out corrective measures will range from 2.2 hours to 9.45 hours, depending on the vehicle type and the problem involved. The entire process will be performed completely
Owners of 2,097 affected VinFast electric vehicles will receive a notice and be invited to bring their vehicles to VinFast’s service workshop to conduct inspection and fix technical problems.
